The top ten charts 1955 is a complete listing of all the top 10 songs week by week for the year of 1955. Back in these early days there were four charts that were published weekly for popular music and they were:
- Best Sellers In Stores 25 – 50 positions (1/1/55 – 10/13/58)
- Most Played by Jockeys – 20 – 25 positions (1/1/55 – 7/28/58)
- Most Played in Juke Boxes 20 positions (1/1/55 – 6/17/57)
- Top 100 – 100 positions (11/12/1955 – 7/28/58)
- Hot 100 – 100 positions (8/4/58 – present)
You probably remember, as I do, riding in the car turning on the radio and listening to the songs and hits of 1955.
Which Chart To Use
For the year of 1955, we decided to use the chart that would best represent the popularity of a song by using the “Best Sellers In Stores” chart. This chart captured the sales of each record across the nation and would be the best source to use for a songs ranking in the top ten.
